Q. I noticed you lost a lot of weight in a short amount of time, which for me would be stretch mark heaven on my skin. Even now since I've gained weight during a short amount time , I have tons and tons of stretch marks on my sides, hips, and thighs. What are some ways i can combat this during my weightless journey?.....Naissa
A. Naissa some stretch marks are genetic, you may be able to make them appear lighter but not actually get rid of them. There are products you can use and buy at drug stores such as Walgreens, Longs, and CVS. They include Mederma Stretch Marks Theraphy Cream, Palmers Cocoa Butter Cream or Lotion, and Bio-Oil for Stretch Marks. Some strength training can help with stretch marks by toning your body and getting rid of loose skin but if muscle mass is gained too quickly you risk more stretch marks appearing.
Q. I have a question, I suffer from a disorder that causes me to be dizzy at times(neurocardio syncope/vertigo), and my MD has stated that she doesn't feel that intense aerobics would be beneficial to me, she recommends something that is more steady like yoga or pilates, walking, she says that strength training for toning is fine as well(as long as it's not too intense)....but what i'm afraid of is that doing these exercises, I won't burn as many calories as I need to. could you shed some light and give me your opinion if it's not too much trouble? pleeeeeeaaasssee?.........Keke
A. Yoga, pilates, walking and strength training are great ways to work out. Burning lots of calories help to lose weight but strength training builds muscle and the more muscle you have the more calories you burn during rest, and your workouts. Some Yoga workouts burn up to 500 calories sometimes more while toning every major muscle. There is a good Pilates workout that works your abs 70% more than crunches. Now that is a good way to lose inches. Don't think low impact or slow steady workouts don't cause weight loss, they can get intense.
